Whin Park looks worth a wager at 12/1 in the 1.30 at Southwell today.
Ben Pauling’s lightly raced five-year-old shaped encouragingly on his first start over the obstacles when racing up with the pace an keeping on to finish an 11 1/4 length sixth of 17 to the now 125-rated Dreamcatching at Wincanton.
He then failed to build on that in two quick starts, but didn’t shape too badlly on handicap debut over course and distance last month when fourth of eight to Early Retiremnet off an opening mark of 111, racing up with the pace before weakening approahcing the last.
Whin Park looks sure to come on for that outing, his first for 215 days, and has quickly been dropped 1lb.
I think he should be capable of making his presence felt in a race of this nature off 110, especially with Charlie Deutsch in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back.
To me he looks the tupe who shoukd have more to offer and another plus is that the stable has begin to hit form, saddling three winners from its last nine runners.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Whin Park (12/1 generally avalailable – use BOG firms)
