World Cup Betting Preview: Argentina v Bosnia

Argentina are a standout 2/5 with Paddy Power to win their opening game against Bosnia tonight (11pm KO, Live on BBC1) and look bankers to do so.

The tournamnet second favoruites have won nine and lost just one of their last 12 World Cup group games (D2), scoring 24 and conceding just four in total in the run.

They have a squad packed fulll of talented and dangerous players, none more so than their captain Lionel Messi.

Messi has long been regarded as one iof the greatest players in the game, but has not scored a goal at the finals since his World Cup debut in Germany in 2006.

However the 26-year-old has scored 37 goals in 83 matches for Argentina’s senior XI, and an atsonishing 243 in 276 appearances for Barcelona, and will be keen to get himself – and his side – off to a flyer.

He heads the first goalscorer betting at 11/4, and looks a worthy favourite.

I would certainly not put off anyone from backing him, but Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero looks too big at 9/2 with Ladbrokes and will be carrying my cash.

I really can’t see Bosnia getting anything out of the game, despite the fact that they have a strike duo of Edin Dzeko and Vedad Ibisevic who managed 18 goals between them during qualifying.

Aregntina to win 3-0 is my idea of the outcome, and that scoreline can be backed at a top priced 19/2 with BetVictor
