World Cup Betting Preview: Italy v Costa Rica

Italy look bankers at 4/7 with bet365 and BetVictor to win their game against Coast Rica today (5pm KO, Live on BBC1).

The Italians exploited the space left by a poor England defence to beat the Three Lions 2-1 in their opening game, and it’s likely to be a similar scenario in this against a side who like to attack.

Costa Rica did well to beat Uruguay 3-1 in their first game, but to be fair their opponents played below par.

There is little doubt that they will play with no fear, but Italy have a side packed full of talent who are capable of wreaking havoc on the counter attack and I can’t see anything but a win for the odds-on favourites.

Mario Balotelli looks cracking value at the evens on offer with Paddy Power to net anytime, and I also like the look of the evens on offer with the Irish firm for both teams to score as Costa Rica have scored in each of their six World Cup games against teams from Europe, whilst Italy have scored in their last 15 World Cup games.

In what should be an attacking end-to-end encounter, over 3.5 goals also looks worth a small wager at a top priced 5/2 with Sky Bet.
