Ziggy Lee should get the race run to suit in the 7.20 at Windsor this evening, and at 12/1 looks weighted to go well on his first start for trainer Peter Hedger.

The eight-year-old doesn’t stand much racing these days, but showed that he retained plenty of ability when a 1 3/4 length third of 9 to Asian Trader at Nottingham last month off a mark of 85.

Although the gelding failed  to back up that effort last time out at Goodwood, he got worked up and unruly at the start and that run can be excused.

The son of Lujain has since been dropped 1lb to 84, and that means that he is now just 2lb higher than when scoring on his sole start last year at Beverley when running on strongly to beat Flash City by 3/4 of a length in the 15-runner handicap.

Ziggy Lee was ridden that day by Jordan Nason, and it’s interesting that his new handler has booked the services of the young rider this evening and he takes another invaluable 7lb off the selection’s back.

Another plus is that Ziggy Lee has winning form on fast ground, and with the likes of Powerful Wind, Taurus Twins and Stone Of Folca in the line-up this contest looks sure to be run at a breakneck pace.

That could well set it up for a closer, and Ziggy Lee fits that bill nicely and is certainly weighted to go well on the pick of his form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts eacxh-way Ziggy Lee (12/1 Boylesports, Hills – BOG)
