Dark Crystal is back down to her last winning mark and looks worth siding with at 10/1 in the 4.30 at Ayr today now eased in grade and partnered by Joe Fanning.

Linda Perratt’s filly is a dual winner at the track, and one of those wins have come over this afternoon’s trip.

She was last successful in a 1m class 5 contest at the venue 13 months ago when only having to be ridden out by Fanning to beat Dhaular Dhar by a neck off a mark of 59.

The four-year-old went on to be placed twice off 63, but is now back down to 59 having failed to trouble the judge in three starts this season.

That gives her every chance from a handicapping perspective, especially now dropped down into class 6 company.

It’s also interesting that connections have called upon the services of Fanning for the first time since he partnered her to her last success, and his booking suggests far better is now expected.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dark Crystal (10/1 Betfred – BOG)
