Masterofdeception is in the form of his life at the moment and can complete the hat-trick in the 3.45 at Southwell today.
The gelding had some useful form in bumpers whne trained in Ireland by Jessie Harrington, and has won both his starts over hurdles since joining Dr Richard Newland in good style.
In the first of those he easily beat Clues And Arrows by 3 1/4 lengths at Ffos Las off a mark of 105, and then readily overcame a 7lb rise in the weights when beating Frontier Vic by 3/4 of a length at Aintree.
The six-year-old made a couple of mistakes in the latter but only had to be driven out to score with more in hand than the winning margin suggests,
The pair pulled 7 lengths clear of the field, and it wsa an effort which suggested Masterofdeception was on the improve and capable of furher success.
Although now 8lb higher in the weights, Masterofdeception still looks handily treated on the pick of his bumper form and has the services of Christopher Ward in the saddle who negates part of nthe rise with his 5lb claim.
He is also with handler who has an excellent record with similar types, and with the trip and going fine everything looks in place for a huge run.
