Tobacco Road looks tasty at 12s

Tobacco Road looks a bit of each-way value at 12/1 in the 4.00 at Kempton today.

The gelding won a year ago at Taunton when trained by David Pipe, only having to be driven out to beat Sreveontime by 3 3/4 lengths off a mark of 98.

He had Lexington Law a further 1 1/2 lengths behind in fourth and now meets that rival, who is half his odds in the betting for this, on just 4lb worse terms.

That makes him look a bit overpriced and he comes into the race having bounced back to form on the level for his new handler Mark Pattinson last time out at Windsor when scoring by 3/4 of a length in a 16-runner handicap.

If building on that he looks on a workable mark over hurdles of 102 on the pick of his form.

Underfoot conditions are also ideal and Tobacco Road is one from two when sporting the tongue tie and a hood.

This track should also suit and he has the services of the in-form Charlie Hammond in the saddle, so has more going for him that his odds suggest – especially in realtion to Lexington Law.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Tobacco Road (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
