I’m A Celebrity bosses have axed Freddie Starr from the show because of health fears.

The 68-year-old comic suffered a severe allergic reaction and collapsed after a Bushtucker Trial in which he ate camel’s toe, pig’s anus and a fermented egg.

He spent a night in  the Cardiac Care unit at Tweed Hospital in New South Wales but doctors were unable to pinpoint the cause of his sickness.

Now – just 3 days into the show – producers have decided that it would be too risky for Freddie to go back in the jungle.

An ITV spokesman said: “Producers have decided that Freddie won’t return to live in the jungle. He has been a terrific contestant. His Bushtucker Trial is one of the stand-out moments in the history of the show and we wish him all the best.”

As he left hospital yesterday a clearly disappointed Freddie said: “I was sick not to finish the show. I wanted to be there until the very end but there’s no use crying over spilt milk. The decision has been made and I have to live with that.
ITV’s got a duty of care and it’s only right that the doctors advise them to keep me away from the jungle.”

Last year Freddie had a heart attack and a bypass operation, but doctors said his jungle scare was unrelated to previous problems.
