York is the centre of most people’s attentions this afternoon but I can only find one worth backing there and one elsewhere. I can’t give you Lambourn at odds-on so my one bet will be an each way one in the sprint handicaps that starts the card at 1.50pm.
Looking at the last 15 runnings and we have only seen one winner drawn higher than 15 so in theory we can “lose” four straight away, while we have only seen one winner bigger than 20/1.
No three-year-olds either, only one rated below 92, and all 15 had raced at least three times this season. Put those together and we can theoretically put a line though a total of 17, leaving us with a shortlist of three – Jordan Electrics, Bergerac, and Trefor.
Of that trio. Trainer Kevin Ryan has won this three times and placed with another (admittedly from 20 runners), while Bergerac has won off his current mark in this very race in 2022. No good thing I accept, but at a double figure price he looks to have a solid each way chance.
