10/1 Aeolus appeals at Newmarket

Aeolus looks weighted to run a huge race and  makes plenty of appeal  at 10/1 in the 1.50 at Newmarket today.

Ed Walker’s charge has not won since landing the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle back in June 2015 but has posted some really solid efforts in defeat and can usually be relied on to run his race.

He was beaten just 3/4 of a length into fourth behind Magical Memory in the Abernant Stakes at this meeting in 2016 off an officla rating of 107 and 1 1/2 lengths when sixth to Profitable in the Group 3 Place House Stakes here.

Aeolus and also far from disgraced when a 3 length fifth to the same rival in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at Haydock and ran a stormer when a 3/4 length second of 26 to Lancelot Du Lac in last year’s Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood off 103.

His last run when a close up fifth behind Perfect Pasture in a handicap at DFoncaster off 101 also reads well as the winer has won twice since – inclouding in Listedcompany.

Aeolus now retruns to action off a rating of 100, his lowest since October 2013, and that gives him outstanding claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Aeolus (10/1 bet365, Coral, William Hill – BOG)
