11/1 Justonefortheroad handicapped to strike

Justonefortheroad is on a dangerous mark at present and with ground conditions to suit looks cracking value at 11/1 to take advanatge in the 5.00 at Ayr today.

Richard Fahey’s seven-year-old was better than ever last season when winning three handicaps on soft ground,  with the last of those successes coming off a mark of 90 over a mile at Leicester where he ran on strongly to beat Shamaal Nibras by a short head.

The gelding started this season on a mark of 94 on the back of that effort and ran a stormer off it on his reappearance when finishing a 1 length four of 22 to Levitate in the Lincoln at Doncaster on soft ground.

Although he has failed to build on that effort and been well beaten in five subsequent starts, the ground has not been ideal for him on the vast majority of occasions and  his handicap mark has fallen as a result.

He now gets into this off just 88 – 2lb lower than when last successful – and 6lb below his cracking effort in the Lincoln.

That gives him major cliams at the weights, especially now that he has the soft ground conditions that he relishes.

He also has solid form at the track, winning a mile handicap and finishing fourth in a 7f contest in just two visits to the venue.

Now that he has his optimum conditions it would be no surprise to see him bounce back and take advantage of his lenient mark, and at 11/1 he looks overpriced to do so.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Justonefortheroad (11/1 BetVictor – BOG)
