Luca Cumani has a tremendous strike rate at Hamilton and Butler looks cracking value at 11/2 to serve up another win for him in the 7.35.
The Newmarket handler has a 28% success rate with his runners at the Scottish track, and Butler is the first horse he has sent up there for nearly four years.
The unexposed gelding has some decent form when traiend in Ireland by Ger Lyons and struck at the second time of asking for Cumani when swopping late to land a handicap at Ripon.
The son of Noverre has put in a string of solid efforts since then without things going his way on a couple of occasions, and ran a blinder last time out at Carlisle in a lady amateurs contest.
He had to be dropped in from a wide draw in the 16 runner field and despite racing in midfield found himself with an enormous amount of ground to make up as they swung for home.
However he picked up really well and stayed on powerfully up the home straight to finish a highly creditable 2 1/4 length second to Lady Chaparral – leaving the impression that with a better draw he would have prevailed.
The handicapper has put him up 3lb for that effort, but he is still relatively lightly raced and I am convinced that he has plenty more to offer.
He should get the race run to suit this evening, and at 11/2 looks an each-way steal.
Recommended bet: 3pts each-way Butler (11/2 generally available – BOG firms)
