The well-treated Very First Blade has been shaped nicely in his last two runs and makes plenty of appeal at 13/2 in the 8.30 at Wolverhampton tonight.
The gelding last scored over 6f at Southwell last June where he beat Upper Lambourn by a neck off 49 when trained by Mark Brisbourne.
He went on to finish runner-up after on his next start over course and distance off 52 in a class 6 affair and now gets into this class 7 contest off just 45.
That is 4lb lower than his last win and gives him every chance at the weights having shaped as if coming to hand in his last two runs.
Now in the care of Mick Mulineaux, the five-year-old was poorly placed in the first of those over 6f at this venue when finishing sixth to Louis Vee where after racing wide throughout stayed on without being knocked about to be beaten 3 lengths.
He then put in a similar effort last time out over 6f at Southwell when staying on late to finish a 2 1/4 length fourth of 13 to Art Dzeko.
That was his third run back from 112 days on the sidelines, and he should now be spot on to do himself justice.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2ptswin Very First Blade (13/2 bet365 – BOG)
