Blue Top has slipepd down to a handy mark and looks worth siding with at 13/2 in the 4.40 at Redcar today now returned to the scene of his last success and partnered by the promising Rachel Richardson.
Mark Walford’s charge was in good form last summer, winning at Newcastle off a mark of 53 before following-up over course and distance off 58.
He wnet on to finish a dcent second to Forced Family Fun at Ayr off 61, and now gets into this off 59 having shaped well in two recent starts on the level last month.
Both those runs came off 60, and he kept on at the end of each to finish fourth to Eastern Magic at Doncaster and fourth to Amazing Blue Sky at Thirsk on good-to-firm ground.
The rain that has fallen overnight will certainly have helped his cause and taken any sting out of the ground, and any more would only further enhance his chances.
Off just 1lb higher than when last successful there is little doubt he is weighted to go in again, and he has a further 3lb taken off his back by Richardson.
She is terrific value for her claim, especially in apprentice contests like this, and if taking it into account then Blue Top is running off 2lb lower than when last successful at this venue.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Blue Top (13/2 Sky Bet – BOG)
