Doc Hay runs off his lowest mark in four years in the 2.50 at Ripon today and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 14/1.
The gelding’s last success came over course and distance last September where he ran on strongly to beat Spinatrix by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 100 when trained by David O’Meara.
Now in the care of Brian Ellison, the seven-year-old gets into this off just 89 and that makes him dangerously well-treated as he was rated as high as 106 in 2012.
Although he has been very hit and miss the season, Doc Hay has run better than the bare result indicates on a couple of occasions and is now 13lb lower than at the start of the campaign.
He also had a similar profile before his last win, and his last two successes have come at this time of the year.
The ground will also holds no fears, and it’s interesting that connectrions are now fitting him with the eye-shield for the first time.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Doc Hay (14/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
