Ganymede retuns to action on a handy mark and looks decent value at 14/1 in the 2.35 at Nottingham today.

Eve Johnson Houghton’s gelding scored first time up last season in a class 4 contest at Brighton off a mark of 74, and followed up seven days later under a 6lb penalty at the same venue off 80.

Ganymede then failed to trouble the judge in seven subsequents starts, but they all came in class 3 and 4 contests and he now makes his seasonal reappearance in a class 5.

The five-year-old is also now able to race off a reduced rating of 73 having been as high as 83 last season, and that gives him a big shout at the weights.

Ganymede also clearly goes well fresh, and with Tom Marquand in the saddle taking off another 3lb with his claim everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Ganymede (14/1 BetVictor, William Hill – BOG)
