Hollow Blue Sky has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and looks worth siding with at 16/1 in the 3.45 at Haydock today.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ gelding was in good form backlast spring, easily winning a 2m 5f handicap chase at Huntingdon on soft ground by 8 lengths off a mark of 108 before posting a cracking effort to finish third of 19 to Streams Of Whisky in this contest off 117.
The seven-year-old then posted a series of solid efforts to be placed three times off marks of 117, 122 and 122 and was far from disgraced when sixth of 19 to Bold Henry in a very competitive class 2 contest off 121 at Cheltenham back in November.
He is now able to race in this off just 114 – 3lb lower than when third in last year’s renewal – and that makes him very well-treated on the pick of his form, especially with Jamie Bargary in the saddle whose claim takes another 7lb of his back.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Hollow Blue Sky (16/1 bet365 -BOG)
