Norse Blues has plenty going for him in the 2.20 at Newbury and looks overpriced at 16/1.
The gelding won the Spring Mile at Doncaster first time up last year when trained by Sylvester Kirk where he chased the leaders before taking up the running a furlong from home to beat Kyllachy Storm by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 85.
He went on to finish a solid fifth of 12 to Arabian Star next time up at Newmarket off 90, and ran really well a few starts later when a close up 5th of 20 to Uppercut off 89 at Goodwood.
The son of Norse Dancer then rounded off his campaign with two solid efforts at Newmarket, finishing 4th to Basseterre and a cracking fifth of 28 to Henry Allingham a day later in the Silver Cambridgeshire off 88.
He gets into this contest off the same mark, and with Ryan Tate in the saddle taking off another 5lb is effectively 2lb lower than his last success if taking his claim into consideration.
That gives him every chance at the weights, and he has now joined the shrewd David Barron outfit whose horses have been running well of late.
Another plus is that he has a good record fresh, so is unlikely to be found wanting in the fitness department and and at the odds on offer I think he is overpriced and good each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Norse Blues (16/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
