20/1 Queen weighted to go well at York

Gran Canaria Queen is back down to a handy mark and looks decent each-way value at 20/1 in the 4.20 at York today.

Tim Easterby’s mare enjoyed a good 2015, winning a class 3 contest Ripon before going on land this contest off a mark of 82.

She went on to score at Pontefract where she made all to win easily by 2 1/4 lengths off a mark of 86, and the seven-year-old was also far from disgraced when a 3 1/2 length fifth of 13 to Don’t Touch in the class 2 Great St Wilfrid at Ripon off 94.

Gran Canaria Queen is now able to race off 81, 5lbs lower than when bolting up at Pontefract and 1lb lower than when landing this 12 months ago.

It makes her dangerously well-treated, and although not at her best in four starts this season she shaped better than the bare result suggests on more than one occasion and with Rachel Richardson in the saddle taking off 5lb with her claim is simply too well-treated to ignore on the pick of her form.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Gran Canaria Queen (20/1 Stan James – BOG)
