Handsome Dude has been given a big chance by the handicapper and looks worth an each-way punt at 25/1 in the 3.10 at Ayr today.
David Barron’s charge scoted twice last year with the last of those succeses coming in a class 3 at Haydock on soft ground where he scored by a head off a mark of 84.
Handsome Dude was aslo successful in a class 4 at Southwell back in January off 85 but has failed to sparkle in five subsequent starts following a break having been raised to 87.
However, the assessor has cur himn plenty of slack and he is now able to race in this class 4 affair off a career-low rating of 76.
It gives him major cliams from a handicapping perspective if bouncing back to anything like his best and he boasts a 38 per cenet strike rate in the grade having won three times and been placed once in eight starts in it.
Handsome Dude also has winning form on testing ground and has won once and been placed once in foru starts under Ben Curtis.
Backing him obviously comes with risks attached based on his recent efforts, but he is too well-treated to ignore and it looks a risk worth taking at the odds on offer.
