Mud-loving Dark Crystal weighted to go well at beloved Ayr

Dark Cystal runs Ayr well and relishes the mud, so having dropped to a dangerous mark looks worth an each-way wager at 20/1 in the 3.40 there today.

Linda Perratt’s six-year-old mare is a six time course winner and four of those successes have come over the 74 trip of this.

He landed a class 6 contest at Hamilton in June of last year off 61 and went on to follow-up in a class 5 here off 66.

Dark Cyrstal also ran well to make the frame on three occasions of 72 – twice in class 4 company and once in a class 5.

He has been well beaten in all four starts this season following a lengthy break but is now able to race off a reduced rating of 60.

That gives him a big shout at the weights on the pick of her form and she has a 29 per cent strike rate in class 6 company.

Ben Robinson also take off another 3lb with his claim and Dark Crytsla has underfoot conditions to suit. So if bouncing back to anything like her best looks capable of outrunning her odds.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Dark Crystal (20/1 bet365, BetVictor – BOG)
