The big betting race of the day is the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket (3.50) and Colour Vision looks overpriced at 25/1.
Mark Johnston’s gelding looked really progressive when bagging a couple of handicaps back in July and got back on the winning trail when keeping on strongly to comfortably beat Fire Fighter by just under 3 lengths.
However it’s his run in the Brown Jack Handicap at ascot back in July that makes him look terrific each-way value at the 25s on offer.
He got beat 3/4 lengths by Keys that day when attempting to defy a 6lb penalty, and was beaten just 3/4 of a length by Roger Charlton’s charge who is joint favourite for this contest.
Colour Vision is now 7lb better off with Keys, and given that he looks the type that will relish this stamina test there is now way in my book that he should be twice the price of his old rival.
His handler has proved time and time again that his horses come into their own when upped in trip, and rarely go down without a battle.
Another plus is that he has a good draw in stall 6, compared to Keys who is drawn out wide in 24.
Despite this race being over 2m 4f it’s a huge advantage to be drawn low as those drawn high have to use up energy to gain a good early pitch and have to cover a huge amount of extra ground to do so.
The selection likes to be ridden handy and should have no problems securing a good early position.
He also looks guaranteed to get the trip, and with most bookmakers paying 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5 he looks terrific each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Colour Vision (25/1 Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Victor Chandler – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4,5)
