Honeysuckle Lil reportedly failed to handle the track when disappointing last time out and looks worth an each-way wager at 40/1 in the 3.05 at Hyadock today having caught the eye on her previous outing.

Tim Easterby’s filly shaped with plenty of promise on her first two starts last season before showing marked improvement to win a 6f maiden at Newcastle in good style.

The daughter of Alfred Noble still looked green, but showed plenty of dash to chase the leaders before staying on strongly inside the last to win going away by 2 1/2 lengths from Flicka’s Boy.

It was an effort which suggested Honeysuckle Lil needing keeping onside, and the form of the race is pretty decent as the runner-up had previously run well to finish third behind the classy ToocoolforSchool at Ripon and a decent second to Primrose Valley at Newcastle.

Honeysuckle Lil was alloted an opening mark of 77 on the back of that success and was far from disgraced off it when seventh of 12 to Roossey in a class 2 nursery at Ayr.

Something was the clearly amiss when well beaten on yer final run last year, but there was plenty to like about her run when a not knocked about fifth of 10 to Dragon King at Ripon on seasonal reappearance when a not knocked about fifth fo 10 to Dragon King at Ripon.

She then failed to fire last time out at Pontefract, after which her handler told the stewards she didn’t handle the track, and has since been dropped another 2lb.

Honeysuckle Lil not gets into this off a career-low mark of 67, and with Rachel Richardson taking off another 7lb with her claim looks potentially well-treated now returned to a more galloping track.

There are plenty of unexposed and likeable types in the field, but at the odds on offer she looks worth chancing and capable of running a big race on the pick of her form for a yard in decent nick.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Honeysuckle Lil (40/1 bet365, BetVictor, Ladbrokes – BOG)
