Yeeoow has run really well in his last two starts and is strongly fancied at 100/30 to take advanatge of a drop in grade to land the spoils in the 8.00 at Pontefract this evening.
The Karl Burke trained gelding is on a long losing run, having not scored since landing a competitive 15-runner handicap at Ascot back in May 2013 off a mark of 90.
However, Yeeoow did run a number of solid races to be placed last year, including when runner-up to Goldream in a 21-runner class 2 handicap at Newmarket off 90 and third at Doncaster off 93.
The six-year-old is now able to race off just 84, and signalled that his time was near when an excellent fourth of 12 to Related in a class 2 affair at Kempton two starts back.
Yeeoow was forced to race wide throughout and couldn’t get any cover from a high draw, but kept on really nicely to be beaten just two lengths without being unduly knocked about by young jockey Joey Haynes.
Had Yeeoow been drawn low I think he would have gone very close to winning, and he backed that up with a fine third of 11 to Out Do in a class 2 contest last time out over course and distance.
He kept on well to be beaten just over 2 lengths, and the winner has gone on a valuable handicap at York.
That form sets a clear standard in this, especially as Yeeow now drops dowm siginificantly to class 4 company off an unchanged mark.
A repeat of his latest run wis going to make him very hard to beat, and the Ontoawinner owned gelding has also bagged a great draw in stall 1.
