4/1 Prohibit a leading French fancy

The Prix de l’Abbaye has been a happy hunting ground for British raiders over the years, and Prohibit holds outstanding claims of landing today’s 5f dash at Longchamp (12.45) for Robert Cowell.

Cowell has done wonders with the six-year-old this season, keeping ticking over since scoring at Meydan back in February in a campaign which has seen him land the Group 1 King Stand at Royal Ascot.

The gelding has never been in better shape and proved he was still right on the top of his game when scoring in Group 3 over course and distance last time out.

He also has nothing to fear on the book from the main French hope Whizz Kid, who beat him by a head at Chantilly but is now 5lb worse off at the weights.

Other pluses are that he has a great draw bang next to the rail in 1, a pilot in Jim Crowley who clearly knows how to get the best out of him, and is sure to get the break neck gallop that he needs to be seen at his best.

On all known form he is the one they all have to beat, and with everything in his favour the 4/1 on offer makes plenty of appeal.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Prohibit (4/1 generally available – BOG firms)
