5/1 Tenhoo a Haydock hottie

Tenhoo has been shaping like a winner waiting to happen and at 5/1 rates the standout bet on today’s card at Haydock (5.15).

Eric Alston’s gelding ran well on his penultimate start when a 2 1/2 length fourth of 14 to Gold Show over 1m 2f at Pontefract where after being held-up in the last pair he made stealthy headway three from home to dispute third approaching the final furlong before being unable to find any extra in the closing stages.

He then caught the eye in no uncertain fashion last time out over 1m 2f at Leicester where he raced keenly in the early stages and was held-up well off the pace and denied a run when trying to make a move two from home.

In the end his jockey gave up and allowed him to come home in his own time once it was clear he would not be winning, and although beaten just over 6 lengths he finished with running left in him and was not knocked about in any shape or form.

That run suggested that he was definitely approaching his peak, and he now gets into this off the same mark of 67.

He is now just 2lb higher than when registering his last success at Redcar last August, and that win came in the hands of today’s rider in a ladies amateur rider event like this.

Another plus is that the seven-year-old has winning course and distance form to his name, and three of his four career successes have come over this afternoon’s trip of 1m 4f.

The ground is also ideal, and everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Tenhoo (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
