6/1 Elite the best bet at Bangor

Quel Elite looks to have plenty going for him in the 3.30 at Bangor today and at 6/1 rates the best bet on the card.

James Moffatt’s gelding has just one win to his name, with that success coming in a 2m 4f novice hurdle run on soft ground at Carlisle back in March 2012.

Since then he has suffered a couple of lengthy spells on the sidelines, but since returning to action in December has put in four solid efforts to make the frame.

The 10-year-old ran particularlay well on his penultimate start in a class 3 contest at Haydock where he went down by just a neck to Extreme Impact off a mark of 109, and he now meets that rival on 8lb better terms.

That should be more than enough for Quel Elite to gain his revenge, and he has since backed up that effort with a fair fourth of 13 to Top Wood in a competitive class 2 contest at Hyadock off 114.

He has since been dropped 1lb by the handicapper to a mark of 113, and that gives him a big chance now dropped back into class 3 company.

Connections are also replacing the cheekpieces he normally sports with the visor for the first time, and that may also enable him to pull out a bit more.

The testing conditions will also hold no fears, and with the favourite Sir Mangan looking on a stiff mark on his handicap debut and the second favourite Monetary Fund out of form and needing to bounce back, he looks overpriced in what looks a winnable contest.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Quel Elite (6/1 Stan James – BOG)
