The well-treated Jolly Ranch is a fascinating contender in the 3.20 at Wolverhampton today and is of serious interest at 6/1. Tony Newcombe’s mare won twice at Bath back in 2011, and is now 2lb lower than her last success.
She has been lightly raced since then, but caught the eye on two of here four starts last year and having started off the campaign on a mark of 64 is now running off just 55.
The seven-year-old ran really well at Lingfield last January when staying on late to finish a never nearer fifth of 9 to Jimmy Ryan, and then after disappointing at Bath shaped really well last time when 5th of 11 to Pick A Little at Kempton.
She then didn’t run as badly as her finishing position suggests when last seen in action over course and distance back in November when a 3 length 7th of 12 to Aneglo Poliziano.
The daughter of Compton Place now comes into this on the back of a 87 day lay-off, but significantly she has run well after such breaks in the past.
She also has course and distance winning form to her name, and her trainer landed a nice touch with Spellmaker last week to show he is more than capable of readying one after a break to get the job done.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Jolly Ranch (6/1 bet365, BetVictor, Boylesports, Paddy Power – BOG)
