Your Gifted has slipped markedly in the weights and looks good value at 6/1 to take advantage in a very weak opening contest at Wolverhampton this afternoon (1.55).
The mare was a five-time winner in 2011 when trained by Patrick Morris with the last of those successes coming in a class 2 contest at Epsom where she beat Moorhouse Lad by a head off a mark of 85.
She went up 6lb for that win to a mark of 91 and was far from disgraced off it when finishing 8th of 13 to Zero Money at Haydock where she showed plenty of pace to chase the leaders before weakening approaching the last to be beaten just over 5 lengths.
The daughter of Trans Island then disappointed in hre next two starts and was subsequently off the track for 714 days before reapperaing at Chester back in August after moving to join Lisa Williamson.
Although well beaten that day and in her next six starts her handicap mark has fallen as a result and she shaped far better last time out over course and distance when keeping on from the rear after racing wide to finish a 4 3/4 length sixth of 11 to Speightstown Kid.
It was an effort which suggested all was not lost, and with the handicapper having since dropped her another 3lb she now gets into this off just 57.
That gives her major claims at the weights if she can build on her latest effort, and this is a very weak class 6 contest which won’t take much winning.
On the pick of her form she is potentially thrown-in at the weights and with Mark Coumbe in the saddle taking another 3lb off her back a huge run looks on the cards from a good draw in stall 1.
