Al Suil Eile looks a fascinating contender on handicap debut in the 4.55 at Doncaster today and worth a punt at 8/1.
This John Quinn trained three-year-old only had three starts as a juvenile and shaped well on the second of those at Redcar when keeping on from midfield to be nearest at the finish when a 2 3/4 length runner-up to Dark Lochnagar over 1m 1f.
He had Mister Chiang, whom he met on level weights, two lengths behind in fourth and now meets that rival on 3lb better terms.
Al Suil Eile then seemed unsuited by the drop back to a mile when a disappointing ninth of 12 at Newcastle on the Tapeta surface and has since undergone wind surgery.
The step up to 1m 2f , and the return to the turf, seems sure to suit judged on his effort at Redcar and an opening mark of 76 looks more than fair.
Al Suil Eile has clearly been brought along with handicaps in mind and his handler has a decent record with similar types.
The tongue-tie also now goes on for the first time and he has the scope to do much better now going down the handicap route.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Al Suil Eile (17/2 Betfair – BOG)
