8/1 Damier worth a dabble at Donny

Damier posted a much improved efforts last time out so looks worth a punt to open his account under rules in the 1.35 at Doncaster today.

Having been sent off at odds rnaging from 20/1 to 50/1 om his previous four starts, the David Dennis trained six-year-old was sent off just 7/1 when third of nine to Agincourt Reef at Ludlow when stepped up to the 2m trip of this for the first time.

After being held-up he made costly errors at the fifth and six before keeping on well at the death to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths off a mark of 87.

It was an effort which suggested he was up to winning a race of this nature and he is able to race off an unchanged rating.

He was also ridden by a 3lb claimer that day and Sam Twiston-Davies, who had a fair record when teaming up with the yard, now takes over in the saddle.

So if building on his latest effort, Damier looks to have every chance from a handicapping perspective of getting his head in front where it matters most.

Daily sport recommended bet: 2pts win Damier (8/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
