Ballyshonagh looks potentially well-treated on her handicnap debut in the 2.10 at Doncaster today and worth a wager at the 8/1 on offer.

Chris Wall’s filly didn’t show much in her first two starts last season, but put up a much improved effort on her final outing when fifth of 7 to Hawker in a 1m 2f maiden on the all-weather at Lingfield.

The daughter of Tiger Hill could never get competitive that day, but kept on at the business end of affairs to be beaten 7 1/2 lengths.

The winner has some decent form to his name going into the contest and the runner-up Vermont has won since and is now rated 83.

The third home Red Warrior has also gone on to score on his handicap debut off a mark of 77, and the fourth Number One London had finished runner-up in a handicap at Newmarket off 82 earlier in the season.

That is strong form in the context of this class 5 contest and makes Ballyshonagh look potentially well-in off an opening handicap mark of just 64.

With just three runs under her belt she remains unexposed and open to further improvement, and if she can build on her last run she looks weighted to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Ballyshonagh (8/1 bet365 – BOG)
