8/1 Fortune primed to defend crown

Misplaced Fortune looks decent value at 8/1 to land the 3.10 at Ripon for a third time after shaping really well last time out.

Nigel Tinkler’s mare won this contests in 2010 and 2012, and generally needs a run to put her straight.

There was therefore lots to like about her reappearance at Doncaster last month where she finsihed an eye-cathing 6th of 14 to York Glory on her first run for 184 days.

The eight-year-old was slowly away that day, and after being held-up off the pace she made good headway when switched right over a furlomng out before keeping on really well to be beaten 2 1/2 lengths without being unduly punished.

The handicapper has since dropped her 1lb to a mark of 92, and she is now just 2lb higher than when registering her last success at Ponetfract last September.

That gives her every chnace from a handicapping perspective, especially with Jason Hart in the saddle taking another 5lb off her back.

Taking his claim into account she is also just 3lb higher than when landing this conytest 12 months ago where she ran on strongly to beat the useful Hallelujah by a length.

That form looks strong given that the runner-up went on to be placed in a Group 3 contest and also landed a competitive class 2 contest at Newbury yesterday off a mark of 95.

Although getting no younger, the selection looked as good as ever last time out and is sure to have been primed for this race.

Another plus is that she has plenty of solid form with cut in the ground, and eevrything looks in place for her tio make a bold bid to retain her crown.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Misplaced Fortune (8/1 bet365 – BOG)
