The in-form Hadaj will appreciate the step back up to 6f in the 4.30 at Pontefract today and is strongly fancied at 8/1 to score a deserved success.

Ruth Carr’s gelidng was in good form last summer when landing a 6f contest at Newmarket and a 5f class 3 handicap at Bevreley on fast ground off a mark of 82.

The five-year-old was put up to 87 after the latter, and failed to trouble the judge in two more runs in 2013.

However, he has run a number of solid races this season, including when a cracking 1 1/4 length fifth of 21 to Goldream in a class 2 contest at Newmarket over 6f off a mark of 83 and now gets into this off 82.

That gives him a massive chance at the weights, and Hadaj has run really well on his last twon starts to finish third over 5f.

On both occasions he has stayed on late, suggesting that the step up back to today’s 6f would suit, and everything now looks in place for him to get his head back in front for a stable going well at present.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Hadaj (8/1 BetVictor – BOG)
