Bold Grove shaped well last time out on handicap debut and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 3.30 at Wolverhampton today.
Edward Bevan’s charge was sent off at 200/1, 200/1 amd 33/1 in three maidens at the track, and ran well on the second occasions when third of 13 to Van Wilder.
The four-year-old then went off just 8/1 on handicap debut over 6f at the track last time out, and kept on well after being denied a clear run at a vital stage to finish a 1 3/4 length fourth of 13 to Bold Max off an opening mark of 55.
The third home Black Truffle has come out and won since to give the form a solid look in the context of this contest, and it was an effort which suggested a step back up to today’s 7f would suit Bold Grove.
The fact that Bold Grove was sent off at single figure odds also suggests that connections believe his current mark is exploitable, and he looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind.
Bold Grove also remains open to improvement after just four starts, and with Rob Hornby in the saddle taking 5lb off his back looks weighted to run a huge race if building on his latest run.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Bold Grove (9/1 Coral, Sky Bet – BOG)
