Chivers will appreciate the cut in the ground at Pontefract today and with the cheekpieces fitted for the first time makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 4.40.
Tim Easterby’s charge got off the mark back in June when staying on strongly to score on good-to-soft ground at Beverley over 1m 4f off a mark of 59 and went on to land a 1m 6f contest at Redcar three starts back under similar conditions when again staying on strongly to lead close home and beat District Attorney by a neck off 64.
The three-year-old then seemed to find the quick ground against him when 8th of 12 to Entihaa in a decent class 4 contest at York, before putting in a better effort last time out on good ground at Newcastle when third to Ryeolliean off a rating of 69.
He now drops down a grade into class 5 company off the same mark, and that gives him every chance at the weights in my book.
The big plus is that he will relish every drop of rain that falls at the track, and he also looks the type who could have more to offer if the fitting of the headgear for the first time has the desired effect.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Chivers (9/1 bet365, Stan James – BOG)
