9/1 Fathsta fancied to fly home at York

Fathsta has plummeted in the weights and makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 to take advantage in the 3.30 at York.

David Simcock’s charge has had no luck in his last two runs when heavily backed on both occasions.

He was drawn on the wrong side when finishing 11th of 19 to Pepper Lane in the Great St Wildred at Ripon, and before that endured a terrible passage when finishing 18th of 27 to Hoof It in the Stewards’ Cup.

Before those runs he had really caught the eye when beaten just 2 3/4 lengths by Hoof It at York, where he was held up at the rear before coming from an uncompromising position to finish never nearer fourth.
He had also been running with credit in some ultra competitive races prior to his bold showing on the Knavesmire.

The six-year-old finished an excellent sixth to Deacon Blues in the Wokingham off a mark of 98, before running a blinder to be third in the Bunbury Cup over 7f
His last win came over 7f at Warwick off a mark of 102 and he is now a massive 11lb lower.

He is now down to a mark of 91, and he won a competitive handicap off 3lb higher at York last October.

A strong travelling type, he is certainly handicapped to be competitive and will be ideally suited by the guaranteed end to end gallop which is assured in this contest.

At 9/1 he looks a great each-way bet.

Recommended bet: 3pts each-way Fathsta (9/1 Boylesports – BOG)
