Mystery looks Magical at 14/1
Magicalmysterytour shaped as if ready to exploit his lenient handicap mark last time out and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 14/1 in the 4.00 at York.
Willie Musson’s gelding hasn’t really fired this season, but he has dropped markedly in the weights as a result and caught the eye when keeping on from well off the pace to finish 7th of 16 to Dazinksi over today’s course and distance.
Although never a threat and beaten 9 3/4 lengths, he showed far more than he had done in his previous two starts and three of his four career wins have come in August/September.
The eight-year-old clearly comes good at this time of the year, and is now 6lb below his last winning mark.
That makes him of serious interest from a handicapping perspective, and his shrewd handler loves nothing more than to plot one up to land a punt.
It will be interesting to see if the money arrives for him this morning, as that would clearly be significant.
However the 14/1 currently on offer for him looks too big to resist, and he is definitely worth an interest at those odds.

Ice Blast looks hot at 25/1
Ice Blast has slid back down the weights to an exploitable mark and looks worth chancing at 25/1 in the 4.30 at York.
Mick Easterby’s gelding should have won on his seasonal reappearance at Mussleburgh over today’s trip, but didn’t get the best of rides or runs during the race and failed by a short-head to catch Ventura Sands.
He than made no mistake next time out at Thirsk when dropped back to 6f, where despite rearing at the start he stayed on powerfully to pull three lengths clear of Jade off a mark of 72.
The handicapper whacked him up 8lb as a result, but he put in a fine effort of his revised rating when finishing a two length third to Common Touch from 3lb out of the handicap in race at York.
He was then well beaten behind St Leger favourite Sea Moon in a handicap over 1m 2f at the Knavesmire, where he quite blatantly failed to get home.
It’s true that since then he has put in five below par efforts, but as a result he has now dropped back down to his last winning mark when scoring so impressively at Thirsk.
That gives him a great chance of being really competitive in this, and with the trip and ground ideal he looks the type who could bounce back with a vengeance at a big price.
In my eyes he is too big a price to ignore at 25/1, and definitely worth an interest.
