Mime Dance has a good record at Epsom and with soft ground holding no fears makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 4.35 there today.

Andrew Balding’s charge opened his account at the fourth time of asking as a juvenile when running on strongly to beat Thatchereen over 7f at this track on soft ground.

He then went on to finish an excellent second of 8 to Juan Alonso on his handicap debut, again over 7f here, where he encountered trouble in running before producing a strong late challenge to go down by just a neck off a mark of 73.

The son of Notnowcato then disappointed when last seen in action and finishing last of four at Kempton, but that was on the polytrack surface and the return to the turf is liekly to see him in a far better light.

He also finished a fair third over 7f here prior to open his account, and clearly runs the unique track well.

The fact that he has winning form on soft ground is another major plus, and his handler has a near 20% strike rate with his runners at the venue in the past 12 months.

From a good draw in stall 2 and with the step up to a mile looking sure to suit, everything looks in place for a huge run from what looks a very workable mark of 77.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mime Dance (9/1 bet365 – BOG)
