Knockara Beau looked to be back to his best when finishing runner-up last time out and at 6/1 looks a cracking bet to go one better in the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby today (1.45).
George Charlton’s stayed on really strongly to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths by Shakalalakeboomboom at Cheltenham and the handicapper has given him a chance by leaving his mark unchanged on 143.
The gelding finished a highly creditable fourth in the same contest last season behind Midnight Chase before reverting to hurdles and running some fine races behind the likes of Grands Crus.
His connections are now campaigning him back over the larger obstacles off a career low mark, and he certainly has enough ability to win a race of this nature.
The eight-year-old had some very decent form in his novice day’s, including when narrowly touched off twice by this year’s Charlie Hall winner Weird Al and on those efforts is weighted to take all the beating.
He can be prone to making the odd mistake, but granted a clear round I think he can prove too strong for the improving Always Right and at 6/1 he looks an each-way steal.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Knockara Beau (6/1 Boylesports, Hills, Ladbrokes – BOG)
