Across The Stars appeals at 12/1

Across The Stars looks overpriced and worth an each-way wager at 12/1 in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot today (3.05).

Although only a well-beaten 10th of 16 to Harzand in the Investec Derby when last seen in action, his chance went when getting badly hampered early doors and the track didn’t appear to suit.

Prior to that he had caught the eye when an unlucky in-running 1 1/2 length third to Humphrey Bogart in the Derby trial at Lingfield.

The three-year-old was staying on strongly under pressure when getting badly hampered inside the final furlong, and there is little doubt in my mind that he would have gone very close to landing the spoils but for that interference.

It was a cracking effort, and Across The Stars has every chance of turning the tables on the winner and runner-up Carntop given how the race panned out yet can be backed at much bigger odds than those rivals.

His handler Sir Michael Stoute also an excellent record iin the race having won it on six occasions, and another plus is that Across The Stars has form on soft ground and the assistance of Frankie Dettori in the saddle.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Across The Stars (12/1 generally available – use BOG firms paying 1/4 odds)
