Amuse Me has dropped back down to a winning mark and is of major interest at 5/1 in the 2.35 at Leicester now dropping down in grade.
Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding looked most progressive when racking up a hat trick of victories over hurdles last season before losing his way over fences.
Having scored of an initial mark of 85 he easily landed the hat-trick of 99 when pulling readily clear to beat Lepido by five lengths at Fontwell last November.
However the handicapper soon put paid to any chances of a four-timer by whacking him up another 16lb to 115, and despite finishing a creditable third off that new rating it was clear that connections had no option but to put him over the larger obstacles.
Unfortunately the five-year-old did not take to the game, and his form quickly tailed off.
It was therefore no surprise to see him back over hurdles on his seasonal reappearance at Lingfield at the beginning of last month, and although he ran well below expectations it’s not hard to envisage him leaving that form well behind given his shrewd connections.
The handicapper has certainly take a chance in dropping him 5lb since that run to a mark of 100, and he is now just 1lb above his last winning mark.
That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective, and he is also dropping down a grade into class 5 company this afternoon.
That makes him look like a potential gamble waiting to happen, and at 5/1 he looks potentially overpriced in a poor contest that he is more than capable of winning if anywhere near back to his best.
