Ardkilly Witness a 12/1 Ascot ace

Ardkilly Witness has been given a big chance by the handciapper and looks worth siding at 12/1 in the 4.20 at Ascot today having returned to form when runner-up last time out.

The gelding had some useful form to his name last year when trained by Dr Richard Newland, wining a class 2 contest at Kempton gameley by a short-head off a mark of 132 and finishing fourth of 14 to Rocky Creek in the ultra-competitive class 1 Betbright Chase at the same venue off 139.

Now in the care of Jamie Snowdon, the 10-year-old failed to shine in his three starts this season.

However, he put in a much improved effort last time out when chasing home the in-form Jenny’s Surprise at Sandown when rallying to go down by 1 1/2 lengths.

That was an huge step back in the right direction, and if building on it Srdkilly Witness looks a massive player in this off a mark of 130, 2lb lower than when last successful.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Ardkilly Witness (12/1 bet365, BetVictor, Coral – BOG)
