My Name Is Rio is back down below his last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1 in the 3.30 at Doncaster today.

Michael Dods’ gelding has winning form on soft ground and was last successful at Ayr 10 months ago when staying on strongtly to land a 14-runner contest by a haed off a mark of 89.

He was the far from disgraced when finisning in jidfeidl in his next two starts at this track and Thirsk off 90, and is now able to race off 88.

That gives him very chnace from a handicapping perpsective, and another plus is that the six-year-old has a good record fresh having won first time up in two of the last three seasons.

With Paul Mulrennan in the saddle, having presumably chosen him over Mass Rally, everything looks in place for a big run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way My Name Is Rio (7/1 bet365 – BOG)
