Assertive Agent holds all the aces

Assertive Agent has form to her name which gives her an outstanding chance in the 5.15 at Bath and looks worth a wager at 6/1 to open her account after shaping nicely last time out.

Tony Carroll’s filly has only had six career starts, and her best effort came over course and distance on her seasonal reapperance when she finished third of 17 to Shore Step.

She got upset in the stalls and was slowly away that day before making good late headway to be beaten just 2 lengths.

The winner has gone on to score since off a mark of 78 and is now rated 85, and the runner-up Dilgura won her next start before finishing runner-up on her handicap debut off 71.

That is strong form in the context of this class 6 contest and makes Assertive Agent look well-treated off a mark of 57.

The selection was then far from disgraced when fourth of 9 to Asian Trader on her next start, again over course and distance, and although has failed to build on those efforts in her next two starts those races were over 7f and she ran far better when dropped back down to 6f last time out when a close up sixth of 16 to Tiger’s Home at this venue.

The daughter of Assssertive kept on from off the pace to be beaten 2 3/4 lengths, and she may well have finished closer in my opinion if she had been ridden more prominently.

However it was still an effort which suggested that she was at the right end of the handicap to win a race of this nature, and if she can build on it then this looks a nice opportunity for her to get on the scoresheet.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Assertive Agent (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
