Authentication weighted to strike at Newcastle

Authentication has slipped down the weights and looks worth siding with at 6/1 in the 3.15 at Newcastle today.

Mel Brittain’s gelding was in good for in 2012, winning a 1m 6f contest at Catterick by 9 lengths off a mark of 50 before following up off 56 on soft ground at Ffos Las over 1m 7f.

He went on to finish a solid second of 13 on soft ground at Catterick off 66, but was not in the same form last saeson and failed to get his head in front.

However, his handicap mark has fallen as a result and he now gets into this very weak looking class 6 contest off just 50.

That gives him a big shout if he can bounce back to anything like the form he showed in 2012, and he certainly won’t be inconvenienced by the testing conditions this afternoon.

His handler is also now in better form, having saddled a couple of winners in the past fortnight and had several placed, and Authentication should now be spot on to do himself justice after two spins this season.

The drop back to 1m 4f should also not inconvenience given the underfoot conditions, and everything looks in place for a huge run.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Authentication (6/1 bet365, BetVictor, Coral, Sky Bet – BOG)
