Back To The Thatch the Eider bet

Back To The Thatch scored in terrific style last time out and makes plenty of appeal at 15/2 in the Eider Handicap Chase at Newcastle today (2.45).

Henry Daley’s six-year-old came good over the larger obstacles at the foruth time of adking when slamming Catching on by 11 lengths in the mud over an extended 2m 7f at Chepstow.

He travelled ominously well throughout and desoite hitting two from home cruised cklear to win with any amojnt in hand.

It was an effort which suggested there was even more to come and a 9lb rise looks fair.

A revised rating of 129 is just 1lb higher than his best over hurdles and he has the scope to make up into amuch better chaser.

His handler also does well with staying chasers and the step up to this marathon trip of 4m promises to suit.

Daley is also in tred-hot form at present, boasting a strike rate of just over 55% in the last 14 days, and another plus is that Back To The Thatch goes well for Richard Johnson who has won twice and been placed twice onn him in five starts.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Back To The Thatch (15/2 Boylesports – BOG)
