Master Dee makes plenty of appeal at Kempton

Master Dee looks worth a bet at 8/1 in the 3.35 at Kempton today.

Fergal O’Brien’s charge developed into a smart novice chaser last year when winning three of his seven starts and finishing runner-up on the four other occasions.

In the last of those successes at Ascot he made all and jumped well before digging deep to beat San Benedeto by 3/4 of a length.

The runner-up, from whom he was receveing just 1lb, is a smart sort who has won four times since – including a Grade 1 at Aintree – to be rated 155.

That is really solid form and suggests a mark of 145 for Master Dee is exploitable.

The selection ran well off it last time out at Aintree when runner-up to On Tour in a valuable handicapm chase over 2m 4f at Aintree when going down by three lengths on soft ground.

A return to a better surface is sure to suit and the step back up to 3m, over which he is 2-3, will hold no fears for Master Dee.

With Barry Geraghty in the saddle he looks to have plenthy going for him.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Master Dee (8/1 Paddy Power, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
