Buxton has slipped down to a career-low mark, and after an eye-catching run last time out rates the day’s best bet at 6/1 in the 3.40 at Lingfield.
Roger Ingram’s gelding only finished 8th of 14 to Tourist over course and distance when last seen in action back in December but was beaten just two lengths after blowing his chances at the start.
He found himself well behind and got caught flat footed when the pace quickened two from home before staying on strongly inside the last.
It was a run that suggested he would have gone close with a level break, and the handicapper has since dropped him another 2lb to a mark of just 56.
That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective, and he has been given a nice break to freshen him up.
The eight-year-old was last successful off a mark of 70 at Brighton back in April and Martin Lane – who partnered him that day – is back in the plate this afternoon.
There is little doubt in my mind that his time in near, and connections look to have found him a golden opportunity to score an overdue success.
If he gets away on terms he is definitely the one they all have to beat, and at 6/1 looks cracking value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 5pts win Buxton (6/1 bet365, Hills – BOG)
