Beat Route the bet at 3/1

Beat Route looked an unlucky loser last time out and is strongly fancied at 3/1 to make amends in the 5.10 at Lingfield today.

Michael Attwater’s gelding travelled really well in his first try over 2m here last month, but found himself with nowhere to go inside the last when getting badly hampered.

In the end his rider had little choice but to sit and suffer, and the fact that he was beaten just a length into third behind Honourable Knight showed how unfortunate he had been.

Granted a clear run there is little doubt in my mind that he would have won that race with a bit to spare, and looks to have a terrific chance to gain compensation in this off the same mark of 72 as in effect he is a winner without a penalty.

The six-year-old is also just 2lb higher than when registering his last success at Kempton back in October, and given his unexposed profile over today’s trip he looks weighted to take all the beating in the hands of Seb Sanders.

I certainly think that the 3/1 on offer for him is more than fair, especially as the odds-on jolly Broxbourne is up another 7lb in here bid to land a four-timer and has stamina to prove on her first try at 2m.

She has gone up a massive 21lb since her winning run began, and that may prove too much given that this is her sixth run in just 44 days.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Beat Route (3/1 BetVictor, Stan James – BOG)
